Book Review: Girls and Their Horses (American Girls, real stories and fun learning)

Girls and Their Horses: True Tails from American Girl, by the editors of American Girl and Camela Decaire (Pleasant Company Publication, 2000, 64 pages, grades 4 and up, ages 9 and up, $7.95) (The 2006 edition has a new cover [pictured] and three posters for a dollar more.)

Meet rodeo sisters and the wild ponies of Chincoteague Island. Have you ever seen a horse smaller than a dog? Read about gymnasts on horseback and girls and their horses who enter competitive jumping events.

Plenty of color photos make even learning about horse chores enticing and memorizing horse-y terms and equipment easy-peasy.

And, like Girls and Their Dogs, Girls and Their Horses contains two dozen removable horse breed trading cards! How cool is that!
